Fridays Off the 405 is starting up again. The next event is Friday March 21st which happens to be the Friday before Easter, unfortunately we will be heading to Mexico for Easter but will try to make the following month's event on April 4th.
We were able to hit up a few of these last year. My reccomendation is to take off work a little early to catch the sunset while enjoying one of best Margaritas around from one of the cash bars that are set up around the Getty courtyard... not a bad way to end the work week. This is a monthly event that has free live music (usually pretty eclectic) and the aforementioned cash bar from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Oh yeah, the art is pretty sweet too.

I'm really looking forwarding to jumpstarting this years "Fridays Off the 405" tomorrow, April 4th. Sad to think it takes music, outdoor dancing and a cash bar to encourage us to go to The Getty. I'm going to pretend that this is not the case, even though it's most certainly true! Does our generation really require an "entertainment value" in order to experience a museum? I truly hope not. And to prove to myself that I do not need this "added entertainment value" to get me to The Getty, I plan to arrive prior to 6pm event start time and tour at least ONE exhibit. One of my favorite views in all of L.A. is the view onto the massive urban sprawl from the grassy knoll nestled within the gardens out back. To view the city with total silence is breathtaking and actually for a moment, the mad chaos of Hollywood, La Cienega, West L.A., Downtown, all of it, no longer seem chaotic but a beautiful composition of colors streaming in an out of one another becoming almost the best piece of art there at that moment. I look forward to enriching myself with some culture tomorrow inside as well as outside The Getty. Cheers all!!!
